Mille-fleur d'Uccle Bantam

Mille Fleur d'Uccle Bantam

A Colorful and Friendly Bantam

The Belgian d'Uccle was first bred in the town of Uccle on the outskirts of Brussels, Belgium, from where it took it's name. The Barbu d'Uccle was created by Michael Van Gelder of Uccle, Belgium, in the early years of the twentieth century and is thought, but not known for certain, that he crossed the existing Sabelpoot and Barbu d'Anvers bantam breeds

This breed is often referred to as the ‘Millie’ Fleur’ or just ‘Millie’, after it’s most popular and common color variation. They are also known for their fluffy feathery beard and boots.

This is a small breed with the cocks generally weighing 26 oz and the hens 22 oz. These are not big egg layers with an average of 100 small bantam eggs a year. They have an extremely gentle temperament and are known to be very friendly and cuddly chickens. This also makes the hens very gentle mothers and great brooders.

These bantams socialize well with other breeds and are beautiful ornamental birds, great for pets and to add a splash of color in your flock. They also love cuddles and human attention which makes them wonderful pets especially for children.
