Our flock started with a handful of Ancona ducklings from a poultry swap. From there we fell in love with the breed and got some females from a breeder and have given them the yard to roam. They have been providing us with fresh eggs daily and do a wonderful job of pest control in our backyard.  We wanted a bit more variety and increased our flock with some bantam and other more colorful chickens, including some ISA Browns, Orpingtons and now starting a brand new Houdan project. As we learn about the different breeds and find what fits our need, our flock is sure to grow. We love the diversity and huge personality of these different breeds of birds, and they have made a great addition to our homestead.
